Sylvia Berman started her pre-professional training at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada. After graduating from QBSC in 2016, Sylvia completed the B.F.A. program at the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase, graduating summa cum laude in May 2020. During her training at Purchase, Sylvia studied ballet, contemporary and modern techniques, as well as improvisation and choreographic composition. She attended the Arts Umbrella International Summer Intensive, the Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet Intensive and the ‘Propulsion with Danse à la Carte’. During her training, Sylvia interpreted the repertoire of notable choreographers such as George Balanchine, Bettijane Sills, Norbert De La Cruz III, Adi Salent, Crystal Pite, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek, and Pina Bausch. Currently, Sylvia is a dancer for Ballet Ouest de Montréal. She also tours the Tchaikovsky Candle Light Ballet with the Fever Company and collaborates with The Bulbe Collective and Avivarts Co.
