TECHNIQUE
Liisa’s class is based on the Simonson technique, created by master teacher Lynn Simonson. The Simonson technique is an organic approach to movement, designed to prepare the body to dance in an anatomically intelligent way. Each student is unique, with their own strengths and physical limitations. Instead of requiring students to fit a standard, they are guided to listen to and become aware of their own bodies.
LIISA’S CLASSES
After thoroughly warming up and preparing the body, you will work on different technical aspects of dance (pirouettes and turns, jumps, développés, etc.). Floor work focuses on strengthening the abdominals, back, and arms, followed by stretches to further improve flexibility. The second part of the class (30–40 minutes) is dedicated to choreographed sequences. The same sequence is practiced over 4–5 weeks. Liisa’s choreography styles are highly varied, as are the styles of music used.
